Nattavud Pimpa

Nattavud Pimpa (Thai: ณัฐวุฒิ พิมพา) (born March 31, 1974) is an education and management academic and researcher at RMIT University. He has published extensively in the area of marketing education and comparative education.

Dr. Pimpa earned his BA in English from Chulalongkorn University, Master of Business from Victoria University, Australia, and Ph.D. in international educationMonash University. His PhD thesis is on international marketing for education services from Australia.

Dr. Pimpa is currently a senior lecturer in international management and leadership at the School of Management, RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He conducted a number of international research project on leadership in South East Asia, CSR and multi-national corporations, and transnational education. Most of his research publications focus on cross-cultural issues in business, education and organisational settings.

His key articles on international education were published in international journals such as Higher Education, 'Journal of Studies in International Education' or 'Educational Research for Policy and Practice'.

From 2008, Dr. Pimpa's research and publications have expanded from marketing of international education to leadership in education, internationalization of the business programs in Australia and Asia-Pacific, terrorism and trade barriers in international trade among ASEAN nations. He won several research grants from the Accounting and Finance Association of Australian and New Zealand for his project on "online education and cultural engagement among business students." Later in 2008, he was appointed a s a Victoria state representative for the [Australia and New Zealand Comparative and International Education Society].


In June 2010, he launched a new book entitled "Global Marketing for Australian Education: Lessons and Strategies." The book focuses on history and marketing of international education in Australian higher education. In this book, he argues that international education has become a global industry, driven by aggressive marketing overseas of degree programs by universities worldwide. Actors in international education are contributing to the new phase of international education industry. International education providers, thus, need to acknowledge the developments, understand marketing strategies and address the challenges of the future.
