Although public roads pass and in one case cross over it, it is privately owned by the homeowners' association, and access both as awater supply and recreational resource is restricted to its members. It is 150 acres (60 ha) in area. Recently a 30-acre (12 ha) section of the lake became infested with
water chestnut s and had to be treated withpesticide . The state Department of Environmental Conservation found in 2006 that the dam had not been operated safely, lacked an ermegency action plan and had been repaired in the past without a required construction permit.References
