Andrew McAvoy

Andrew McAvoy, (born 1981 in Windsor, Ontario) is an entrepreneur, businessperson, Canadian politician and political organizer.

McAvoy joined the Green Party of Ontario in 2005 and the Green Party of Canada in 2007. He was also the Green Party of Ontario's candidate in the provincial electoral district of Windsor-Tecumseh for the Ontario provincial election, 2007 held October 10, 2007. McAvoy garnered a significant increase in support over 2003 results and polled best among the area ridings for the Greens. In 2007, he was elected to the Green Party of Ontario Executive at the 2007 AGM for a two-year term ending in 2009. McAvoy was elected National Chair of the National Day of Celebration for the Anglican Church of Canada in 2001. Personal

McAvoy has also been active with several community groups including the Canadian Liver Foundation, Windsor/Essex County Humane Society, and as coach in both the Forest Glade Fastball League and the Windsor South Little League. Business

As an entrepreneur, Mr. McAvoy’s business aspirations came early in life. While in grade school, Mr. McAvoy began serving the needs of local business with their online needs and throughout high school was involved with many business ventures as the Internet become more widely accepted.

McAvoy is currently CEO of The Yovacm Group, a company he founded in 1993, and has responsibility for other business enterprises and projects as part of the group. The Yovacm Group is an Internet consultancy, strategy and development firm based in Windsor, Ontario, with clientele such as NASA, TD Canada Trust, RICOH, Major League Baseball, CASCAR, the Windsor Spitfires, among others. Mr. McAvoy has also been involved with the Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce as well as Chambers of Commerce throughout Canada including in Ontario and British Columbia.

Education

Politics

McAvoy has been an organizer for the Green Party of Ontario and the Green Party of Canada since August 2007. He served as a non-partisan assistant and advisor to then Deputy Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Herb Gray, MP in Windsor from 1998-1999. While attending the University of Windsor, McAvoy was elected to the Board of Directors of the University of Windsor Student’s Alliance as well as the Finance Committee. McAvoy also served on the President’s Advisory Council, on the University of Windsor Human Rights Panel, and as a member of the University of Windsor Special Needs Advisory Committee. McAvoy also serves as the CEO of the federal Green Party association and President of the provincial association in Windsor-Tecumseh.
