- Carrick Castle
Castle Carrick is a 13th-century castle on the west shore of
Loch Goil ,Argyll ,Scotland . It is located between Cuilmuich and Carrick, one mile south ofArgyll Forest Park and four miles south ofLochgoilhead .Castle
This is possibly the second building or other structure to be built on the area of land. It is thought that this could have been a hunting lodge for the kings of Scots however the Lamonts originally owned the castle. In 1368 it was then passed on to the Campbell Earls of Argyll.
The Keep
The keep, associated with the
Clan Campbell , was a ruin for many years, but is now being restored. It was constructed in the 1400s,Mary Queen of Scots visited here in 1563Argyll Rebellion
In 1658, during the Argyll Rebellion, the Keep was burned down.
