"Seventh Tree" is the fourth studio album by the British electronic duo Goldfrapp. It was released by Mute Records on February 25 2008 in the United Kingdom and the day after in the United States [http://www.last.fm/group/Alison+Goldfrapp/journal/2007/10/26/558929 "Last.FM: Alison Goldfrapp's Journal > "Seventh Tree" - 25 Feb 08 Album Release"] . Last.FM. October 26 2007]

Goldfrapp have described the album as a "sensual counterpoint to the glitterball glamour of "Supernature", their last studio album from 2005. They claimed that the inspiration came from paganism and surreal English children's books. [ [http://curveofsound.wildhunt.org/2008/02/15/inspired-by-paganism-and-surreal-childrens-books/ A Sweeping Curve of Sound » Blog Archive » Inspired by Paganism and Surreal Children’s Books ] ] The album's first single, "A&E", was released on February 11 2008 and peaked inside the top 10 in the UK. Critical response

"Seventh Tree" received mostly favorable reviews from pop music critics. In a review for Allmusic, Heather Phares wrote that the album's "electro hippie-chic is the duo's most polished and luxe work yet" and named "Caravan Girl" as its best song.Phares, Heather. Retrieved March 4 2008.] MusicOMH.com reviewer John Murphy called "Seventh Tree" Goldfrapp's "most subtle, affecting and rewarding album to date" and compared it to Kate Bush and the Cocteau Twins.Murphy, John. Retrieved March 3 2009.] However, Pitchfork Media reviewer Nate Patrin was less impressed, and wrote that the album is "so subtle and slow-moving it doesn't seem to go anywhere" and that its songs "coast on some frothy sense of pleasantness that evaporates the moment [they] end".Patrin, Nate. In a review for Yahoo! Music, Adam Webb wrote that "Seventh Tree" "marks convincing evidence that Alison Goldfrapp now exists on the same artistic plane as PJ Harvey or Kate Bush".Webb, Adam.
