Vidhwansak

Vidhwansak

It is an Indian made Anti Material Rifle. The Ordnance factory in Tiruchirpalli had developed a changeable multi-calibre anti-material rifle named "Vidhwansak" which is sanskrit for destructive. The Rifle can be used for destroying enemy bunkers, lightly armoured vehicles and radar systems in the battle field even at a distance of 2000m.It is not based on the South African Denel NTW-20 as speculatedFact|date=September 2008, but is comparable to the said weapon in terms of caliber.Comparing Vidhwansak to the Denel anti-material rifle, the rifle is much cheaper than the NTW-20 and also has multiple calibers and fires 12.7mm, 14.5mm and 20mm rounds compared to dual calibres supported by the South African counterpart. It is also a unique weapon in being one of the only weapons to support 3 calibres with quick interchangability. The development of Vidhwansak was completed in November 2005 and the rifle had been offered to the Indian army, BSF and National Security Guards.
