Ross McGowan

Ross McGowan (born 23 April 1982) is an English professional golfer.

McGowan was born in Basildon in Essex, although he grew up in Banstead, Surrey and went to school in Epsom. After finishing sixth form, he went to university in the United States and played collegiate golf at the University of Tennessee. McGowan won the 2006 English Amateur. He defeated Oliver Fisher in the final by the score of 5&4. Shortly after that he turned professional. McGowan led the Challenge Tour's 2007 money list going into the Apulia San Domenico Grand Final. He finished in a tie for 28th place though and ended up falling out of first. Michael Lorenzo-Vera won the tournament and the Order of Merit title. He is playing on the European Tour in 2008, and he moved into the top one hundred of the Official World Golf Rankings in January of that year.

In June 2008 he played in his first major tournament, the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, making the cut and eventually finishing 77th.
