Lisa Jane Phillips was a military impostor who was exposed by an official at
Meredith College after she had arranged for the waiver of $42,000 in tuition at the school. In August 2002, Phillips attended classes wearing a military uniform. In 2005 campus Police Chief Frank Strickland saw the medals on her class-A uniform. These included a medal awarded for service inWorld War II . Her accounts of fighting inAfghanistan andIraq did not stand up to scrutiny.
