Episode recap

Jon makes a new recipe, in which he puts a strange green ingredient, though he does not know what it is. He tries to feed it to Garfield and Odie, who find it repulsive. They convince him not to eat it, and he puts it in the refrigerator, behind the mayonnaise, next to the ketchup, and to the left of the cole slaw. It stays there for months, and grows into a huge, slug-like creature.

One day in February, Jon and Garfield discover the creature, and, grabbing Odie, run screaming from the house. Jon calls the police and the refrigerator SWAT Team. They arrive, and the police chief sends Schmidlap, "the stupidest man on the force", into the house. When Schmidlap has trouble locating the creature, Garfield realises that it is up to him, and runs to a mini-market where he purchases a mysterious secret weapon, and comes into the house. The creature grabs him and drags him to its lair, but Garfield employs the secret weapon, which turns out to be a small, open box of baking soda. The creature swallows the box and vanishes.

Garfield receives awards from the police and refrigerator manufacturers. He then tells them not to thank him, but make sure every refrigerator in town has a small, open box of baking soda inside. They are delighted to comply.
