St Margaret's School is a boarding and day school for girls aged 4–18 in Bushey, Hertfordshire. It is situated in 74 acres of countryside within easy access of main travel routes and close proximity to London.
The Clergy Orphan School was founded in 1749 for the orphans of clergymen, both boys and girls. It was initially sited near Thirsk in North Yorkshire, moving in 1812 to St John's Wood in London. In 1852 the boys moved to Canterbury (now St Edmund's School). In 1897, after the St John's Wood site was compulsorily purchased by the Great Central Railway, the girls' school moved to Bushey, taking the name St Margaret's. [ [http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=164188 St Margaret's Clergy Orphan School and Chapel] , "Images of England", English Heritage National Monuments Record.] St Margaret's is now solely a fee paying school.
Despite its extensive history it seems that the only notable alumna is Ingrid Tarrant, estranged wife of gameshow host Chris Tarrant.
