The first Filipino settlement in
Spain dates back to the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines between the 16th and 19th centuries. Most Filipinos who migrated to Spain were either mestizos of Spanish ancestry;Tornatrás , indigenous Filipino ethnic groups, orChinese Filipino s; who were sent there by the Spanish government to obtain work and education.
