William R. Drury

William (Buzz) Drury, AIA, NCARB, LEED is the President and a founding partner of Architecture, Incorporated, a design firm based out of the
Washington Metropolitan Area, in Reston, Virginia. William Drury has led several notable hospitality, higher education and commercial projects. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he has resided in the Northern Virginia area for over 30 years. Spearheading over $900 million of development and renovation work, Drury has continued to design intelligent buildings that respond to their contexts and users. Drury has been a strong advocate for the use of design work to positively change the Washington region's communities. As a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified member, he has worked to incorporate new environmental standards in all of "Architecture, Inc"'s designs. Several of his passive solar designed houses can be found throughout the Lake Thoreau and Lake Audubon neighborhoods in Reston, Virginia. Since the late 60's, Reston's houses have been a testament to the changing suburban model of the 20th century neighborhood. Drury, alongside other prominent Washington architects, such as Hugh Jacobson were the first to address these new forms and models for today's modern neighborhoods. William Drury is noted for going above and beyond the expectations of stakeholders and end users to create environments that are not only aesthetically pleasing but efficient, and designed to last. Mr. Drury holds a U.S. patent for a structural system and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects.Registered in 15 states, NCARB Member.

Notable Works

Most notable projects include the renovation and addition of Marcel Breuer's "American Press Institute" Headquarters, The annex to the Washington Naval Museum (historical significance), The "Kettler Arena" & NHL Washington Capitals Training Center, Alexandria Hospital masterplan and Emergency Department restructuring, Historic Lake Anne Center revitalization masterplan. Project architect for the Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg , Virginia
