Solihull , Walker was educated at Yardley Grammar school and underWilliam Bloye at theBirmingham School of Art . Tito 's public sculpture programmes inYugoslavia in the early 1960s and worked with theAfrican National Congress in the 1970s.His work includes the memorial to the
International Brigades inJubilee Gardens South Bank ,London and a large head ofNelson Mandela (now outside theQueen Elizabeth Hall , London). He had finished the 9-foot tall clay sculpture for the statue ofNelson Mandela inParliament Square , but died of cancer before it was cast in bronze. He also sculpted a statue ofFenner Brockway inLondon , a statue ofHarold Wilson in Huddersfield. A statue ofStephen Hawking at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology inCambridge was his last public work.References
