Tamura (田村市; -shi) is a city located in Fukushima,
Japan . The city was founded onMarch 1 ,2005 from the merger of the former towns of Funehiki, Ogoe, Takine, and Tokiwa and the former village of Miyakoji, all from Tamura District.As of June 2005, the city has an estimated
population of 43,623 and a density of 95.2 persons per km². The total area is 458.30 km².Landmarks
The town of Takine houses two well-known local attractions: Abukuma Limestone Caves and The "Hoshi no Mura" ("Village of Stars") Observatory. Both are popular tourist attractions.
