Wizernes is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais "département" in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France.

Geography

Wizernes is a large farming village located 4 miles (6km) southwest of Saint-Omer, at the D928 and D211 road junction and on the banks of the river Aa, a tributary of the Lys River.

History

Because of its proximity to the V-2 rocket launch site of La Coupole, the village was badly damaged by 14 Allied bombing raids during the summer of 1944.
