Pang Hui was a military general serving the
Kingdom of Wei during theThree Kingdoms era in ancientChina . He was also a son of the generalPang De , who was captured and executed byGuan Yu after a defeat at theBattle of Fancheng . Pang Hui inherited his father's courage and ferocity in battle and was eventually promoted to General of the Center Guard (中衛將軍) and enfeoffed as a marquis.According to the "
Record of Shu " (蜀記) byWang Yin (王隱), after theKingdom of Shu was conquered by the Kingdom of Wei in 263, Pang Hui massacred the entire family of the then already dead Guan Yu to avenge Pang De.In the
14th-century historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms " byLuo Guanzhong , Pang De specifically instructed his wife to take good care of Pang Hui before he left for battle atFancheng . He even predicted that Pang Hui would avenge him as the child had a unique appearance (possibly in the sense ofphysiognomy ).Personal information
