- George Sargent (businessman)
George Sargent (1859-1921) was an Australian businessman. With his wife, Charlotte Sargent, and Foster Sargent he founded Sargent's Meat Pies in 1906.They started selling pies for a penny in a small shop in Paddington, New South Wales in 1899.
In 1927 over 10,000 pies needed to be buried as they were left-over from the opening of the Old Parliament House in Canberra.George and Charlotte are both buried in Waverley Cemetery.
