Griff Williams (b in Butte Montana 1966). He is the son of
Pat Williams (b. October 30, 1937, Helena, Montana) a former Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from the state of Montana during the years 1979–1997.Griff Williams is a San Francisco based fine artist whose paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, including San Diego Museum of Art, Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, New Langton Arts, Andrea Schwartz Gallery and Stephen Wirtz Gallery. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, Flash Art and Artnet.com.
He received his BFA from the
University of Montana in 1988 and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1993. He is an instructor at theSan Francisco Art Institute and the owner of Gallery 16, San Francisco. Since 1993, Gallery 16 has exhibited the work of scores of influential contemporary artists including Margaret Kilgallen, Arturo Herrera, Michelle Grabner, Mark Grotjahn, et al. The Gallery 16 Editions publishing program has used contemporaryprintmaking methods to create, portfolios and artist books for scores of notable contemporary artists such asRex Ray ,Lynn Hershman Leeson , Deborah Oropallo andWilliam Kentridge .Williams has also designed and published acclaimed books with the Gallery 16 Editions imprint.
