Tesco Vee

Tesco Vee (b. Robert Vermeulen, 1955, Kalamazoo, Michigan) was, and still is to some extent, the frontman for the early Michigan hardcore punk band The Meatmen. He was also a co-founder of Touch and Go Records.

The son of the superintendent of Okemos schools, Vee formed The Meatmen in 1978 and documented their existence with his own Touch and Go fanzine. The group originally consisted of Vee and the Ramsey brothers, but later lineups included Brian Baker and Lyle Preslar of Minor Threat. Vee moved from Michigan to Washington, DC in 1983.

In 1982, Vee released an EP under the band name Blight, which featured members of local band The Fix. Vee also released another EP named "Dutch Hercules", featuring the standout tracks "Lesbian Death Dirge" and "Crappers Delight".

Early recordings of the Meatmen, as well as the solo "Dutch Hercules" songs, can be found on a CD called "Stud Powercock - The Touch and Go Years".

As of 2008, Vee is currently working on a new album and has begun a new tour in the eastern U.S.
