Lesa Mayes-Stringer (sometimes shown as Lesa Mayers-Stringer, born Lesa Mayes on
May 13 ,1968 ) is a Canadianbobsled der who competed from 2001 to 2006. Lesa had 5 top 10 World Cup finishes in 2004/2005 season. Later, that season, she finished 11th in the two-woman event at the 2005 FIBT World Championships inCalgary .Mayes-Stringer was in position to qualify for the
2006 Winter Olympics inTurin , but was not selected. In her place wereHelen Upperton andSuzanne Gavine-Hlady .A native of
North Battleford, Saskatchewan , Stringer married in 1994 and sat out 2002-03 World Cup season tomaternity leave . Prior to her role inbobsleigh , Mayes-Stringer competed in athletics in theheptathlon and the100 m hurdles .She earned her degree in
history fromYork University and holds a teaching certificate fromSimon Fraser University inBritish Columbia .Lesa Stringer is the younger sister of ex - pro football player
