OBE (born26 December ,1926 ) is an English hymnwriter and clergyman of theChurch of England .Born in
Manchester , England, he was educated atTonbridge School andPembroke College, Cambridge . He was ordained adeacon in 1950 and apriest in 1951. He served as Archdeacon ofNorwich 1973-81 and Bishop of Thetford 1981-91. He also served as and President of theEvangelical Alliance . [cite web
