Wyatt Tee Walker (born
August 16 ,1929 ) is aUnited States blackcivil rights leader. He worked withMartin Luther King and helped found theSouthern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in1957 . He was the third executive director of theSouthern Christian Leadership Conference from1960 and1964 afterJohn L. Tilley (1957-1959) andElla Baker (1958-1960). In1967 he became Senior Pastor of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem, New York. Since his retirement is2004 he is pastor emeritus living in Virginia Where he attended Virginia Union University in RIchmond and teaches at the School of Theology he is amongst their many successors. Also a group of kids in Norfolk, Virginia performed a show entitled 'Walking with Walker" that turned Walkers life into a show in2007 .He was inducted in the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame at the

He served on the National Committee on the
American Committee on Africa (ACOA) and in the1980 s served on the ACOA Board, including as President. He was the co-founder, along with Canon Frederick B. Williams, of the Religious Action Network (RAN) of the ACOA in 1988 during the height of the Anti-Apartheid struggle. RAN is a network of over 300 congregations throughout the U.S. As Senior Pastor at Canaan Baptist Church he hosted numerous African leaders of struggles against colonialism and apartheid including Nelson Mandela.Walker is a member of
