Udo Weilacher

Udo Weilacher, Prof. Dr. sc. ETH, (born 1963) is a German landscape architect, renowned author and Professor for Landscape Architecture.

Biography

Udo Weilacher, born in Kaiserslautern/ Germany, studied landscape architecture at the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan and at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. At the Technical University of Munich, were he received his diploma in 1993, Weilacher was influenced by his professor, Peter Latz who is a prominent German landscape architect and has done numerous projects internationally. At University of Karlsruhe (TH) and the ETH Zurich where he worked as a scientific assistant, it was professor Dieter Kienast, an internationally renowned Swiss landscape architect, who deeply influenced Weilacher in his theoretical and practical work.Udo Weilacher did extensive research on the relationship between art and landscape and on theory and history of contemporary landscape architecture. He published his works internationally and initiated numerous projects fusing art and landscape architecture, among others with the "Zeichen + Landschaft" association at the Technical University of Munich and the "Grenzland" lecture series at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich.
