(2003)"Love, Shelby" is the seventh studio album by
Shelby Lynne , released on November 13, 2001 onIsland Records . The follow-up to her acclaimed "I Am Shelby Lynne ", this album found Lynne collaborating with producerGlen Ballard , who became widely known for his work producingAlanis Morissette 's "Jagged Little Pill " and recordings by theDave Matthews Band .The style of the album contrasted with Lynne's previous album, with a more pop-oriented sound. Reviews of the album were also less enthusiastic than those of the earlier album. Reception ranged from supportive writings in "Billboard" and "
Village Voice " to negative reaction from critiques including one in "The Austin Chronicle " noting, "The edges have been sawed off Lynne's sound."Most of the album's songs were either written or co-written by Lynne, and the album closes with a cover of
John Lennon 's song "Mother", which Lynne had performed during a Lennon tribute shortly after theSeptember 11 attacks inNew York City . The song "Killin' Kind" was released as a single, tying into the soundtrack for the film adaptation of "Bridget Jones's Diary ".Track listing
