Beatty Secondary School is the home to one of Singapore's Oldest existing Scout Troops, Beatty Beaver Scout Group. In recent years, the Scout Group has achieved the Frank Cooper Sands Good Unit Award for 12 consecutive years since 1996. A feat that is undefeated by any other UG in Beatty. The Scout Group was awarded the Silver Award for year 2007. Thus Far, only the Scouts have managed to get a Silver Award for UG, even though the school has 8 Uniform Groups, which has all received Bronze for their efforts.
The Scout Group was formed in 1950, then known as the Victoria Silver Arrows by Mr. Syed Alwi bin Hassan, who was also the first team of Teachers in Beatty in its formative years. Later it was re-formed as the 56th Beaver Scout Group. In the late 1960s til the 1980s, the Scout Group was known as 1504 Beavers, registered under the Kallang District. When Beatty moved over to Toa Payoh North, the Group was re-registered under Toa Payoh District as 05 Beaver Scout Group. From the 1990s til present times, the Group is better known as the Beatty Beaver Scout Group. Whatever name the Group was known as, the spirit of the Beaver has always remained within the Scouts of the Troop, generations after next.
The Scout Group has produced 3 Queen Scout Award recipients and 6 President Scout Award Recipients in its brief 55 years of History. In 2008, the Scout Group celebrated its 55th Anniversary with a Campfire and an Old Beavers' Gathering. The Gathering was well attended by almost 80 Olds Boys & Girls of Beaver Scout Group. It was the first time in the History of Beaver Scout Group that a gathering involved Beavers from the 60s and beyond.
The Scout Troop is very active both in School and the District with the help of a committed and passionate group of Old Boys who assist the ever-changing group of Teachers administrating the Scout Group. The Beavers are better known for their yearly expeditions and overseas trip that they embark on to challenge the Scouts' perspective of Adventure and to widen their outlook of World Scouting.
