Earl of Panmure

Earl of Panmure

The title Earl of Panmure was created in the Peerage of Scotland in 1646 for Patrick Maule, along with the title Lord Brechin and Navar. Both titles were forfeit by the attainder of the 4th Earl in 1716 on account of his participation in The Fifteen. The Heirs Apparent to the Earldom were styled Lord Maule.

In 1743, the title was revived (though without an "of") when William Maule, a grandson of the 2nd Earl and nephew of the attainted 4th Earl, was created Earl Panmure and Viscount and Baron Maule in the Peerage of Ireland. Those titles became extinct on his death in 1782.
