NUVO is an alternative weekly newspaper serving the Indianapolis, Indiana metropolitan area. Locally owned and operated, it features news, music, film and theatre reviews, and also has sections for classifieds and other advertisements. It is printed in a tabloid format, and is available free at 1200 locations around Indianapolis.
The paper frequently runs articles covering the happenings in area politics, music, culture and the arts.
The paper began publishing in 1992. "Best of the Indy" awards are listed each year, covening a wide range of topics such as the best meal under $5, best sex shop, best local bands, best music venues and the best radio and television personalities. Frequent writers include Steve Hammer, David Hoppe, Jim Poyser, Laura McPhee, Lisa Gauthier, Chuck Workman, Rita Kohn, Terry Kirts, Colin Dullaghan, Paul F.P. Pogue, and Jack M Silverstein. It also publishes the comics work of Wayne Bertsch. His two strips BARFLY and GADFLY appear everyweek.
