John Catheline

John Catheline

John Catheline (born October 14, 1978) is an American professional wrestler and actor, better known by his ring name, "The Bouncer". Catheline is a mainstay in various promotions throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia including Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling, Mega Championship Wrestling, and Black Diamond Wrestling.

Wrestling career

In 1996, while attending Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Catheline enrolled in a grueling eight-week program that would officially begin his training for wrestling. His instructor, Preston Steele, had a fairly successful independent wrestling career himself and was trained by Dominic DeNucci, the man who trained top-tier talent such as Mick Foley and Shane Douglas.

After training, Catheline began working bookings for Steele at his promotion of the International Wrestling Association (IWA), out of the Youngstown area. Early on, Catheline was mostly getting booked by either Steele or associates of his. Once IWA became defunct, Catheline began branching out and taking bookings in the Cleveland area.

Once limited in what type of wrestling he was allowed to do under his former mentor (Steele had a hand in the spots and finishes for all of his students’ matches), Bouncer was able to showcase both his ability and wrestling repertoire. Due to his size (6’0 ft, 290 pounds) and surprising flexibility and agility, promoters from the Cleveland and Pittsburgh had begun to take notice.

Still a part of a successful run in the independents, Bouncer has been featured in magazines such as WOW Magazine (World of Wrestling), and has been ranked in the PWI 500 on numerous occasions.
