James McGowan (1841 - 1912) was a New Zealand politician of the Liberal Party.He represented the Thames electorate from 1893 to 1909, when he resigned.
He was Minister of Justice from 1900 to 1909 in the First Liberal Government. He was later appointed to the Legislative Council.
