Essex bus route 505 is a bus route operated in Essex and north-east London hourly on Mondays to Saturdays through the towns of Chingford, Waltham Abbey and Harlow. It is operated by Arriva Shires & Essex out of Harlow garage. There is also a joint school bus route, operated by First London, number 853 operating from Chingford to Waltham Abbey "King Harold School". There is one return journey and is operated by a yellow school bus

History

The route was operated by County Bus until Arriva took over in the late 90's. The route used to operate to Walthamstow Central via Waltham Way until it was cut back to Chingford Station around 2002. At one time the route also operated to Old Harlow. Also around 2002, it was extended from Harlow "Bus Station" to Mark Hall North, an estate in Harlow, the extended section replaced a previous route operated by Buzz-Line.
