Weston Ranch is a subdivision located in the southwestern corner of Stockton,
California and extends south through an unincorporated portion ofSan Joaquin County . There are approximately 6,500 homes in the Weston Ranch community. According to the 2000 census, the population of the Weston Ranch community was approximately 30,686. Residential construction in the community of Weston Ranch are in its last phases with a shopping center pending approval with the City of Stockton scheduled to break ground in 2008. There is a higher percentage of individuals in all census age categories under 44 years old in the Weston Ranch area than there is in the remainder of Stockton. Weston Ranch includes a large number of individuals who have moved to San Joaquin County from theBay Area . Many of these individuals continue to commute back to the Bay Area for work.The schools in Weston Ranch are part of the Manteca Unified School District and consists of three elementary schools; August Knodt, George Y. Komure, and Great Valley, as well as
Weston Ranch High School .The Weston Ranch neighborhood, a 15-year-old subdivision of modest tract homes, has the worst foreclosure rate in the United States according to ACORN, a national advocacy group for low and moderate-income families.
