Malakpet is one of the old suburbs of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. This suburb known by two parts, Old Malakpet and New Malakpet. The Palmetum was established here in 2002 by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The major landmarks here are the popular Hyderabad Race Club^[1], and also has the historic Mahboob mansion.

Commercial area

Malakpet is home to the wholesale market for spices, which was shifted here from Mir Alam Mandi to Mehboob mansion which was a part of Nizams so many palaces sprawled throughout Hyderabad.

It also has many shops catering to all needs of its residents. All major apparel stores, including Chermas, Raymond, Reebok, Nike have their branches here. All major automobile companies like Hyundai, Maruti, Hero Honda hold potential outlets here.

Malakpet has quite a number of Hospitals, The Major ones being Yashodha Hospital, Hyderabad Kidney center and Susrutha Hospital(This is the oldest and First Hospital in Malakpet and has been serving people for close to 40 Years). Apart from these there are some Smaller hospital

Transport

The state-owned APSRTC runs the city bus service, connecting to all the major centres of the city. All the buses running from Dilsukhnagar and Midhani bus depots pass through Malakpet.

Malakpet has a MMTS train station, which is used by many from Dilsukhnagar for commuting.

You can find buses from Dilshuknagar most of which ply via malakpet, you can buses to any place in hyderabad. suffers frequent Traffic jams.

In early 1980s there was only one apartment building in dhis place i.e ShreeRama Apartments on Race Course Rd .Today many buildings & urbanising of not only this place but LB Nagar etc; the traffic is increasing.
