CPI(M) won the Palshipara assembly seat defeating Tapas Kumar Saha of AITC. Kamalendu Sanyal of CPI(M) defeated Tapas Kumar Saha of AITC in 2001, Ujjal Biswas of INC in 1996 and Kartic Chandra Biswas of INC in 1991.
