Nakashipara ( _bn. নাকাশীপাড়া) is a town with a police station, a community development block, and an assembly constituency in Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Nakashipara is located at coord|23.58|N|88.35|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/28/Nakasipara.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Nakashipara] ] . It has an average elevation of m to ft|17|m|abbr=on.

Nadia district is mostly alluvial plains lying to the east of Hooghly River, locally known as Bhagirathi. The alluvial plains are cut across by such distributaries as Jalangi, Churni and Ichhamati. Demographics

In the 2001 census, Nakashipara community development block had a population of 334,863 out of which 172,400 were males and 162,463 were females. While the area is overwhelmingly rural it includes such urban pockets as Jagadanandapur and Kshidirpur are part of Nakashipara CD Block. Politics

Kallol Khan of AITC won the Nakashipara seat defeating S.M.Sadi of CPI(M) in 2006 and Shaikh Khabiruddin Ahmed of CPI(M) in 2001. Shaikh Khabiruddin Ahmed of CPI(M) defeated Dhrubajyoti Ghosh of INC in 1996, and Kallol Khan representing INC in 1991. Santosh Kumar Sinha of CPI(M) defeated Kallol Khan of INC in 1987. Mir Fakir Mohammad of CPI(M) defeated Nil Kamal Sarkar of INC in 1982 and S.M.Badaruddin of INC in 1977. [cite web

Nakashipara is an intermediate panchayat (local self-government) under Nadia zilla panchayat. Bethuadahari

Bethuadahari Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Nakashipara area. It is spread over an area of 67 hectares. It was established in 1980. As per the 1995 census, it had 297 deers. It has about fifty species of wildlife including python, jungle cat, porcupine, monitor lizard, and a variety of snakes and birds. [cite web
