Core values of the United States Navy

The United States Navy's "core values," published as being desirable, are Honor, Courage, and Commitment. The Tailhook '91 affair demonstrated the need for a firmer moral base for sailors. The Core Values were formally adopted by Admiral Frank B. Kelso II in 1992. The document in which Admiral Kelso II published the core values is NAVOPS 030/92. The Marine Corps also professes the same "core values."
