Jay J. Carty Jr. (born
July 4 ,1941 ) is a retired Americanbasketball player.He played collegiately for the Oregon State University.He was selected by the St. Louis Hawks in the 6th round (48th pick overall) of the
1962 NBA Draft .He played for theLos Angeles Lakers (1968-69) in the NBA for 28 games.After graduating fromOregon State University , he was drafted in the 6th round of the1962 NBA draft by theSt. Louis Hawks .Instead of playing in theNBA , he chose to work alongside the legendJohn Wooden atUCLA .While he was there, he spent time working with soon-to-be superstar Lew Alcindor or as we know him Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the current man with themost points scored in a career in the NBA.He should be credited with developingKareem Abdul Jabbar's "hook shot".Jay Carty currently lives inCalifornia with his wife and kids and lately has published some books with past sports heroes like "Coach Wooden One-on-One ", "Darrel Waltrip ", and other books.In 1982, Jay Carty also started a christian ministries program called Yes!Ministries dedicated to helping people accept Jesus Christ into their lives.External links
