Tynda ( _ru. Ты́нда) is a town in
Amur Oblast ,Russia , located in the valley between the Tynda (Amur basin) and theGetkan River s (Zeya's basin), km to mi|568 north-west ofBlagoveshchensk . It is the administrative center ofTyndinsky District and an important junction on the BAM railway. Population: ru-census|p2002=40094|p1989=61996 There is a sizable North Korean community in the area. The town is served by theTynda Airport .Geography

The settlement of Tyndinsky ( _ru. Ты́ндинский), named so after the Tynda River, was first mentioned in 1917. In 1928, it was granted work settlement status. At the time, the majority of the population was employed as servicers of the Amur-Yakutia auto route. On
November 14 ,1975 , the settlement was granted town status as its population grew due to the construction of theBaikal-Amur Mainline . The town went into a decline after the construction was completed, as the utilization of the mainline turned out to be low.ister cities
