Pre-TVA Hydroelectric Power Development in Tennessee MPS

North Carolina and Blount and Monroe counties,Tennessee on theLittle Tennessee River between river miles 43 and 44. The dam along with a powerhouse and tunnel/pipeline combo form The Calderwood Development. The development was completed in 1930. Calderwood Dam forms Calderwood Reservoir which covers approximately 570 acres (normal full pool area) with a drainage area of convert|1856|mi2|km2. The elevation of Calderwood Reservoir is 1087.8 feet (USGS). About half of Calderwood Reservoir lies inTennessee , with the remainder extending intoNorth Carolina .Calderwood , likeCheoah andChilhowee , is controlled by TVA's Fontana Dam.
