From September 1942 until September 1944, "Launceston" was assigned to the British Eastern Fleet.

HMAS "Launceston" paid off on 23 March 1946, and was briefly commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS "Launceston", prior to transfer into the Turkish Navy in late 1946. Initially named "Ayancik", and later renamed "Hamit Naci", the ship was withdrawn from service in 1965.
