"Sorrow" is a song written by Brett Gurewitz and performed by Bad Religion. It is widely considered to be one of their best known songs. "Sorrow" was the first single to be released from their twelfth studio album, "The Process of Belief", which was released in 2002, although the single was first played in the fall of 2001 by the L.A. radio station KROQ.

The song is based on the story told in the Book of Job and uses it as an allegory for all human suffering. The first lines are in direct reference to the book:

"Father can you hear me?
How have I let you down?
I curse the day that I was born
And all the sorrow in this world"

Then it goes on to question the existence of suffering:

"Will you guide me now, for I can't see
a reason for the suffering and this long misery.
What if every living soul could be upright and strong,
well, then I do imagine there will be
sorrow, no more."

More than five years after its release, "Sorrow" remains one of Bad Religion's concert staples.

The band Switchfoot has covered this song many times while on tour and the song has been released as downloadable content in the video games Rock Band and Rock Band 2. [http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83081]
