SR-71 was an American Alternative rock band that was formed in Baltimore, Maryland. They are best known for their 2000 single "Right Now", their 2002 single "Tomorrow", and are credited as the authors of Bowling for Soup's 2004 hit "1985". The name of the band came from SR-71 Blackbird, a retired supersonic surveillance aircraft of the United States Air Force. The band was originally known as Honor Among Thieves, and as would be the case with SR-71, singer/songwriter/guitarist Mitch Allan would be the only constant member.

As of 2007, the band is currently on an indefinite hiatus after releasing their third studio album "Here We Go Again" in 2004. The band's next release is going to be released as lead singer and guitarist Mitch Allan's solo project, while SR-71's band members could appear as performers on his record.

Mitch Allan is the only band member to appear on all three released albums. The original drummer Dan Garvin appeared on the first album only, before leaving to join the band Nine Days for a short time. He was replaced by John Allen. The original lead guitarist and bassist were Mark Beauchemin and Jeff Reid respectively. They were on the first two albums, but both left after the promotional tour for the second album "Tomorrow". Jeff Reid left for medical reasons (lung cancer) and succumbed after a long fight. As of 2007, Beauchemin was working as the guitarist for Vanessa Carlton. After the departure of Beauchemin and Reid, Pat DeMent joined as guitarist and Mike Ruocco as bassist.
