Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano - NABA

Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (NABA) s a private Academy within the Higher Education Fine Arts System ( [AFAM] ) that is a department of the Italian Universities governed by Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). It issues academic diplomas equivalent to first and second level degrees, recognized at the international level and which allow to participate in contests and to continue studies inside the academy and in the university system in Italy and abroad.

Founded in 1980, NABA was the first academy to activate experiments in fashion (1989), graphics (1984) and design (1997) demonstrating constant vocation to research and innovation. It has 48 Partner universities in Europe (Erasmus exchange program), the students coming from over 40 different countries. The Academy is located in the historical Navigli district, one of the loveliest and liveliest areas of Milan. All the classrooms and laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and are inside an industrial complex dating back to the late 19th century, which has been recently restructured and has remarkable architectural value.

As a non-state institution, NABA has a limited number of students and can react swiftly according to changes in the art and design field. At the same time, being fully recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), NABA issues B.A. degrees legally recognised all over the world. Although there are many private institutions in Italy, NABA was the first, and still the only one recognised by the Ministry of Education, offering a complete range of educational programs in fine arts and design (fashion, graphic, product and interior, media, theatre).

NABA is part of the European and international networks ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts) and ICFAD (International Council of Fine Arts Deans), which comprise over 800 Universities of Art and Design across the world. This was a spontaneous step, a natural consequence of the innovative project which originally formed NABA, of an avant-garde teaching staff, of the interdisciplinary approach between the Schools on an international level, and of how they are considered by international partners.

With the Socrates/Erasmus projects, the experience of 3, 6 or 9 months of study abroad becomes a real opportunity for detailed study and specialization, as well as undoubtedly being a chance to enrich personal curriculum vitae and increase creative horizons

NABA hosts the M-Node [http://www.francescomonico.com/m-node/] of the Planetary Collegium
