According to the
United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 29.3square mile s (75.9km² ), of which, 27.2 square miles (70.4 km²) of it is land and 2.1 square miles (5.5 km²) of it (7.23%) is water.The two historic centers are the villages of Glenburn and West Glenburn.
Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 3,964 people, 1,479 households, and 1,137 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 145.8 people per square mile (56.3/km²). There were 1,683 housing units at an average density of 61.9/sq mi (23.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.01% White, 0.28% African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.10% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.33% of the population.There were 1,479 households out of which 37.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% were non-families. 16.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 2.97.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 32.4% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $41,885, and the median income for a family was $44,335. Males had a median income of $31,458 versus $22,656 for females. The
