Fran wakes up in the middle of the night to find that the walls of her flat are moving and discovers that her landlord (Johnny Vegas) has moved her wall so as to create an extra flat next door. In an attempt to get her flat back she hires Bernard, who is obsessed about finding himself a summer girlfriend, to pretend to be a lawyer, only for him to end up trying to date the woman who has moved into the new flat. Meanwhile Manny panics about the temperature reaching 88 degrees, which would trigger his "Dave's Syndrome", and continues to come up with ingenious ways to keep himself cool in the soaring heat.
