East Geelong is a residential suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. An area of East Geelong, known as Thomson is named after pioneer and the first mayor of Geelong Dr. Alexander Thomson.

The Post Office opened on 6 June 1921. An earlier Post Office dating from 1871 was later renamed Moolap West. A Thomson Post Office opened in 1950 and closed in 1992.Citation
