The Barnegat Branch Trail is a

Asbury Park Press | date=2007-08-28] The trail surface is stone dust, typical of rail-trails, with a convert|10|ft|adj=on easement.Phase II of the trail project is a planned stretch of convert|6.6|mi|adj=on that would connect County Lane in Waretown with South street in Lacey. Construction is slated to begin on a portion of the Phase II section in the Fall of 2008 with a convert|6000|ft|adj=on section of pathway between Pancoast road and Wells Mills road in Waretown.
Phase III of the trail project is a planned stretch of convert|4.4|mi|adj=on that would connect South street in Lacey with the Berkley-Beachwood boarder.
Controversy
A convert|1.9|mi|adj=on segment of the trail right-of-way has been the focus of an ongoing battle to build a bypass roadfor Route 9. Lacey officials are proposing a shared road-walkway for this section of the trail.
