Mikhail Vladimirowitsch Jurowski (Russian _ru. Михаил Владимирович Юровский) (born
25 December 1945 ) is anRussia n conductor.Jurowski was born in
Moscow , the son of composerWladimir Jurowski (1915-1972). For twenty-four years he was the assistant toGennady Rozhdestvensky Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. After his studies at theMoscow Conservatory withLev Solomonovich Ginzburg (1907-1981) andAlexey Ivanovich Kandinsky , he worked at Moscow's Stanislawski- andBolshoi Theater s. In 1990 he left Russian for Germany. From 1992 to 1997 Jurowski was music director and principal conductor of theNordwestdeutsche Philharmonie ,Herford . Then from 1999, intendant of the Volkstheaters der HansestadtRostock as well as Norddeutschen Philharmonie am Volkstheater Rostock and also guest conductor ofRundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin .Juroswki also was active in
Scandinavia with the orchestras inMalmö ,Odense , andCopenhagen . InArgentina withOrquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires imTeatro Colón , and from 1999-2001 he was principal conductor of theOper Leipzig . Since1 January 2006 he has been principal director of theWDR Rundfunk orchestra.Jurowski's son Vladimir (b.1972) is currently the chief conductor of the
London Philharmonic Orchestra . His youngest sonDmitri Jurowski (b.1979) is also an international conductor and considered as one of conducting´s outstanding, most promising new talents.PRIVATE
Jurowski lives in Berlin. He is married with three children Vladimir, Maria and Dmitri.
