- Llannerch-y-medd
Llannerch-y-medd (sometimes also spelt Llanerch-y-medd or Llanerchymedd) is a small
village inAnglesey , northWales , at gbmapping|SH415844. TheRoyal Mail postcode is LL71.The village is situated near the centre of Anglesey close to the large water supply reservoir,
Llyn Alaw , and is believed to have an ancient foundation. "Llannerch" means "a woodland clearing". The word "medd" in the name is Welsh formead , which is made fromhoney , and the name may be related to the production of honey for mead. The disusedAnglesey Central Railway runs through the village: The station was closed during theBeeching Axe , and the goods yard is now a car park. There is also a claim that Mary, the mother of
Jesus , is buried in the village. However, it is very unlikely that Mary, who lived inPalestine , should have ended her days in Anglesey at the outer fringe of theRoman Empire . This theory is the subject of a book by the author Graham Phillips entitled "The Marian Conspiracy". [ [http://www.grahamphillips.net/ The Official Graham Phillips Website ] ] Mary's traditional burial place is nearEphesus , in present-dayTurkey .References
