List of leading Rugby union Test try scorers

List of leading Rugby union Test try scorers

This is a list of the leading try scorers in Rugby union Test matches, with a minimum of 30 Test tries. A Test is a game played between two national representative teams that both have "Test status".

Players who are still active at international level are in bold. Players who are active at club level, but not at international level, are in "italics". Some caveats must be noted:
*The New Zealand Rugby Union has historically had a rigid policy requiring that players be active in domestic rugby (Air New Zealand Cup and/or Super 14) to be eligible to play for the All Blacks (although this may be easing slightly; see Dan Carter). Doug Howlett is now playing with Irish side Munster, making him ineligible for the All Blacks for the time being.
*The Australian Rugby Union has a similar policy with regard to the Wallabies. Chris Latham was granted an early release from his ARU contract in early 2008, played the 2008 Super 14 season with the Queensland Reds, and will join the English side Worcester Warriors for the 2008-09 season.
*Ben Cohen has not been selected for England since 2006, but has not announced his international retirement.
*Gareth Thomas has not been selected for Wales since 2007, but has not announced his international retirement.
*Many people choose to ignore Daisuke Ohata's status as the top try scorer in Rugby Union as only a quarter of his tries have come against tier one rugby playing nations. Thus, David Campese is recognised by many as being the rightful holder of this record

All of the players on this list are backs. The all-time leading try scorer among forwards is Colin Charvis of Wales, who took sole possession of the record on November 24 2007 against South Africa with his 22nd career try.
