São Paulo ,Brazil . It is most commonly referred to as Graded School. The school opened onOctober 17 ,1920 in a small schoolhouse onAvenida São João . In 1961 the current campus was built onAvenida Giovanni Gronchi inMorumbi .The school has an
elementary school ,middle school andhigh school . The school offers American-style teaching and offers anInternational Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and SACS-accredited American diploma. The school has 90 classrooms, 8 computer labs, 1 auditorium, 1 infirmary, 2 covered play areas, 2 gyms, a running track and soccer pitch, 4 tennis courts, beach volleyball court, and 4 science labs. The libraries contain 50,000 volumes.The school recently constructed an Arts Center. It is a large structure with three floors, but standing as high as a 5-6 floor building. The first floor houses music and theater activities, with an orchestra room, a band room, six practice rooms (two of which contain pianos, and one an electric drum set), a dance studio, a media center for editing film and music, and a
black box theater . The second floor is dedicated to the visual arts, and contains several rooms for ceramics, painting and drawing. The second floor also has a photography room, complete with its own developing facilities.Graded is also one of nine in the world to offer the IB organization's pilot film program. There are several computer labs, with a mix of Dell and Apple computers. The film lab consists of at least 12 Mac G5 computers equipped with
Final Cut Pro editing software, all intended for students of the film program's exclusive use. The lab also owns four Panasonic DVX100B Proline cameras, again for use exclusively by the film students.Traditionally more than 95% of the school's graduating class enrolls in a 4-year degree within one year of graduation.
The school is accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and theBrazilian Ministry of Education . It is also part of theAssociation of American Schools in South America .External links
